Certification & Hallmarking
BIS Hallmarking
BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) hallmarking is the Government of India's official purity certification for gold jewellery. A hallmarked piece has been independently tested and verified to match its stated purity (e.g. 22K, 18K), giving you a guarantee that goes beyond the jeweller's own word.
HUID Number
Every hallmarked piece carries a unique 6-character alphanumeric HUID (Hallmark Unique Identification) number, engraved on the piece itself and registered with BIS. You can verify any HUID directly on the BIS Care app or website. Every hallmarked product on Shivalik Jewellery displays its HUID on the product page.
Diamond & Gemstone Certification
Our diamonds and select gemstones are certified by independent gemological laboratories such as IGI (International Gemological Institute), GIA (Gemological Institute of America) or SGL (Solitaire Gemmological Laboratories), depending on the piece. A certificate confirms the stone's carat weight, cut, colour, clarity and — for diamonds — whether it is natural or lab-grown. The certificate provider and number are shown on the product page for every certified stone.
Why It Matters
Certification and hallmarking exist to protect you: they mean the purity, weight and stone quality you are paying for is independently verified, not just claimed. We only source hallmarked gold and certified stones where certification is available for that stone type.
