Jewellery Care Guide
Gold Jewellery
Store separately in a soft pouch to prevent scratches. Remove before swimming, bathing or applying perfumes, lotions and hairspray — these can dull the finish over time. Clean gently with a soft, lint-free cloth; for a deeper clean, use lukewarm water with a mild soap and a soft-bristled brush, then dry thoroughly.
Silver Jewellery
Silver tarnishes naturally with air exposure. Store in an airtight pouch or box, ideally with an anti-tarnish strip. Polish with a dedicated silver cloth rather than abrasive materials, and avoid contact with chlorine or household chemicals.
Platinum Jewellery
Platinum is highly durable but can develop a soft patina with wear — this is normal and can be professionally re-polished if a mirror finish is preferred. Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush.
Diamond & Gemstone Jewellery
Diamonds attract oils and lotions, which dull their sparkle. Soak briefly in warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap, then brush gently around the setting with a soft toothbrush and rinse well. Coloured gemstones vary in hardness — avoid ultrasonic cleaners unless your jeweller confirms it is safe for that specific stone.
General Tips
- Put jewellery on last, after makeup and perfume, and take it off first when undressing.
- Have prongs and settings inspected annually to catch loose stones early.
- Store pieces separately — gemstones and harder metals can scratch softer ones.
